Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
The Vredestein ULTRAC and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 are two summer tyres which have been subject to meticulous testing and reviews. Both have proven strengths and a few weaknesses, yet they offer different experiences for drivers.
The Vredestein ULTRAC, made in Hungary, is the recommended model for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer, which adds to its credibility. According to Autobild, it ranked 14th out of 21 tyres tested, demonstrating reasonable but not outstanding performance. Furthermore, this model excels in driving dynamics. Whether it's wet or dry, the Vredestein ULTRAC delivers ultra-short braking distances and exceptional aquaplaning characteristics. One downside, however, is its reduced mileage and heightened rolling resistance.
On the other hand, the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 appears to offer a more balanced experience. With its comfort and exterior noise reduction recognised as its best features, it provides higher ride comfort compared to the Vredestein ULTRAC. The Dynaxer HP4 also secures a slightly better 13th position in the Autobild test. High points are given to its good aquaplaning safety and relatively short dry braking distances; however, its handling could be improved, and its tire life is considered mediocre.
In mutual tests, the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 outperformed the Vredestein ULTRAC overall, with its strengths resulting in a rating of 76%, compared to the Vredestein's ULTRAC 26%. Although it fell short on grip in wet conditions and steering response, it did remarkably well in aquaplaning security and had short brake distances both on wet and dry roads.
Even though the Vredestein ULTRAC is notable for its performance in wet and dry conditions, its reduced mileage and high rolling resistance are points to consider. As it stands, the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 seems to offer a more balanced, comfortable, and quiet driving experience, making it the better choice amongst the two, although it does come with its own shortcomings.
The choice depends on personal preferences and driving conditions; hence, both remain viable options. Nonetheless, these observations can assist in cultivating an informed decision to cater to specific needs and desires.
