Today, we are comparing two highly rated tyres: the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 5. Let's see how these two match up in our tests.

The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 is a summer tyre known for its premium features. It ranked high in wet braking performance. However, it showed slower steering response, felt more like a comfort bias tyre, and had one of the lowest aquaplaning resistances on test. While it was rated at 82% in our tests, it was used as original equipment in high-end cars like Audi Q8, Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne, and BMW X3.

On the other hand, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is the successor to the popular Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 3 models. Noteworthy for its long tread life, this tyre offers good steering, and a progressive understeer balance making it a reliable performer across various conditions. Although it was found to be the priciest among the ones tested and could do with more grip in wet conditions. Despite those minor issues, it thoroughly impressed us by obtaining a 99% rating in our tests.

In the TyreReviews 2023 test, Michelin Pilot Sport 5 was praised for its durability and eco-friendliness, and performed quite well in dry handling, wear, and aquaplaning performance. The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 received positive comments for its excellent value for money and its commendable wet grip.

The ACE test saw the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 taking the 3rd position, 4 spots ahead of the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127, which held the 7th position. Additionally, in the Autobild sports tyre test including 50 tyres, the Hankook scored a surprising win, while the Michelin was promptly positioned at the 6th place.

In conclusion, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 offers good value for money with its excellent wet grip whilst Michelin Pilot Sport 5 stands out in durability and performance over various conditions. However, each has its own strengths and weaknesses. While the Hankook could work on its aquaplaning resistance, the Michelin would become an even better tyre with more wet grip and a tad bit less on the price. Both are solid tyre choices for summer use, but your final selection should align with your specific driving style and preferences.
