Today we'll do a comparison of two prominent summer tyres, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and the Yokohama Advan Sport V107.
With a whopping 100% rating, the Goodyear-made Asymmetric 6, made in Germany, is a well-balanced tyre excelling in both dry and wet conditions, with low weight and remarkable fuel efficiency. Its strength lies in its versatility, blending a steady understeer balance with sporty handling. This makes it an exceptional all-rounder, ideal for a vehicle like the Golf GTI. It also boasts an excellent grip during wet braking tests, promising high mileage and low exterior noise. However, on the track, it seems to lack the heat resistance its predecessors, Asymmetric 5 and Asymmetric 3, possessed.
On the other hand, the Yokohama Advan Sport V107, with a rating of 42%, stands out for its performance on a dry road, and its exciting, sporty handling. This makes for an exceptionally fun driving experience. Moreover, it was the only tyre in the test that handled a hot, aggressive, dry circuit without showing significant wear. However, the Advan Sport V107 seems to present a few challenges due to its poor performance in wet conditions, a rough ride when meeting potholes, and a high rolling resistance. Its weakness comes when tested in cooler climates as it requires more time to heat up.
In combined mutual tests, such as ADAC and Autobild, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 demonstrated consistently impressive results with a 4th position out of 18 tyres and 2nd position out of 50 tyres, respectively. Conversely, the Yokohama Advan Sport V107 secured the 6th place in the ADAC test and 4th place in the Autobild test, proving a respectable competitor despite its perceived weaknesses.
To conclude, both models carry their own merits and downfalls. However, according to test results, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 takes a well-deserved lead with its superior overall performance and all-rounded attributes.
