Comparison: Uniroyal RainSport 5 vs. Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 vs. Fulda SportControl 2

The comparison between the Uniroyal RainSport 5 and the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 is a match between mid-level and premium performance summer tyres.

The Uniroyal RainSport 5 tyre belongs to the UHP sub-type and it is widely recognised for its excellent performances in aquaplaning. Whether cross or longitudinal aquaplaning, RainSport 5 is a top-ranking contender. However, in comparative tests, the tyre's overall performances was outmatched by the competition as it ranked 36th out of 51 tyres in Autobild tests. With an overall rating of 64% from us, there is space for improvement for Uniroyal.

On the other hand, Dunlop's SP Sport MAXX RT2 is a UUHP summer tyre scoring an impressive 72% in our rating. It performed exceptionally well in Autobild tests, securing a 7th place ranking out of 51. Notably, the tyre performed exceedingly well in areas of aquaplaning (both cross and longitudinal) and comfort. Additionally, Autobild's 2022 and 2023 reviews highlighted positively its secure driving characteristics on wet surfaces, precise wet handling, short dry and wet braking distances, and good rolling comfort. However, the reviews also reported a delayed steering response on dry surfaces.

In conclusion, while the Uniroyal RainSport 5 performs well in aquaplaning, it pales in comparison to Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2's rounded overall performance. Given the strengths and weaknesses of these two tyres, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 appears to offer better value for those seeking advanced performances and comfort.
