The Toyo Proxes Sport 2 and Falken Azenis FK520 summer tyres are strong contenders in the ultra-high-performance (UHP) tyre category. Both are renowned for their reliable performance and impact on overall driving experience. However, according to our comparative study based on various tyre tests, there are some prominent differences to consider.

The Toyo Proxes Sport 2 scored a solid 72% in our rating system. Its strengths lie in its balanced driving behaviour on both wet and dry surfaces, as well as its short dry braking distances as praised on Autobild and ADAC 2019 tests. However, some drawbacks include its limited mileage and a relatively higher price, leading to a slight downgrade in its overall value.

On the other hand, produced by Falken, the Azenis FK520 stands out with a higher score of 75%. It replaces the previous model, FK510, and with improvements. Strong performances on dry surfaces along with short wet and dry braking distances earn it its high score. This tyre also takes the crown for low exterior noise, ensuring a quieter driving experience, a feature highly appreciated in ADAC 2019 and Autobild tests. However, there are some concerns with its limited lateral stability on wet surfaces.

In most of the tests, the Falken Azenis FK520 consistently outperforms Toyo Proxes Sport 2. For example, in the Autozeitung test, the FK520 ranks 8th out of 10 tyres, beating Proxes Sport 2 which ranks 7th. And in the ADAC and ADAC 2019 tests, FK520 also ranks higher - 8th place compared to Sport 2's 11th place.

In summary, if you are looking for superior dry performance and whisper-quiet rides, your pick should be the Falken Azenis FK520. However, if budget is not a constraint and you are after balanced wet and dry performance with short dry braking distances, the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 would be a commendable choice.

Whichever tyre you opt for, ensure you consider your driving conditions and preferences alongside the tyre test results for an informed verdict.
