Comparison: Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 vs. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 vs. Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127

Today we're looking at a comparison between two top-rated tyres: The Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 5.

Starting with the Pirelli P ZERO PZ4, rated at 85% by our team. As a summer type, it falls into the Ultra-Ultra High Performance subcategory. It shows a high degree of skill in dry handling, wet braking, aquaplaning - longitudinal, and particularly excels in dry lane changing and wet circle cornering. It managed to take the 4th place in Autozeitung's test out of 9 tyres and 3rd in the Autobild test out of 50 tyres tested. Remember, the previous tagline of Pirelli: "When it comes to control, stability, and grip; Pirelli is the name you can trust."

However, Pirelli P ZERO PZ4's highlight performance was slightly overshadowed by feedback from the autobild 2023 test, which noted limited mileage and a relatively high price as downsides. Regarding its key strengths, Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 was praised for its "excellent dynamic driving qualities and short wet and dry braking distances".

The competition, Michelin Pilot Sport 5, turned out to shine brightly in the test results. Securing an impressive rating of 97% elevated it to one of the top performances in the UUHP summer tyre category. This tyre rose to prominence as a successor to the successful Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 3 models. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 demonstrated a good performance in wet circle cornering and aquaplaning - both cross and longitudinal - in addition to wet braking. It reached the 5th spot in Autozeitung's test and 6th position in Autobild's test out of 50 tyres, showing its consistency and reliability, just as Michelin has been known for.

The autobild 2023's report remarks that Michelin Pilot Sport 5 "offers precise steering behaviour and very good driving dynamics, good aquaplaning reserves, and short wet and dry braking distances" as its notable benefits. However, the higher price is something potential buyers should keep an eye on.

To summarize, both tyres exhibit exceptional performance characteristics, with the Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 shining in handling and cornering, but with a higher price and the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 impressing mainly with its driving dynamics and braking performance. The choice between the two can be influenced by your personal driving style and needs.
