Comparison: Petlas Imperium PT515 vs. Nokian WetProof

In this comparison we are looking at two summer tyres. The first one is the Petlas Imperium PT515 an economy range tyre, made in Turkey, which did not manage to surpass the average results in our tests and received a rating of 48%. The second one is the Nokian WetProof a mid-range tyre, originating from Finland. It proved to give better overall performance with a rating of 74%.

Starting with the Petlas Imperium PT515, the tyre has shown reasonable durability and minimal wear in autobild 2023 test, however it displayed considerable weaknesses on both wet and dry roads, it weighed more compared to other tyres in the same category and showed hints of not being sustainable enough. Moreover, in the ADAC test, Petlas held the 14th position out of 15 total. In Autobild, it struggled even more, managing only 35th position out of 53 total tyres tested.

On the other hand, the Nokian WetProof put up a much better performance. Its strengths lie in being well-balanced, performing good on dry and wet roads, and being efficient overall. Nevertheless, it did show some weak aspects such as a slightly negative impact on the environment, signs of premature wear and a relatively short lifespan. This tyre stood at the 11th place in the ADAC test. Furthermore, out of 53 tyres tested by Autobild, it managed an impressive 6th position. Interesting to mention that Noise and Wet circle cornering were marked as the best features of Nokian WetProof in ADAC test.

In conclusion, Nokian has a more balanced and better performing tyre overall. Petlas might be suitable for drivers primarily concerned with the longevity of the tyre and are willing to compromise with the overall performance. It is crucial to choose a tyre according to your specific needs and the conditions you usually drive in.
