Nokian's current summer tyre range spans everything from high-performance passenger car rubber to dedicated van fitments, so rather than covering every size and variant on sale, we've picked out the models that have actually distinguished themselves in this year's independent tests.

The standout is the Nokian Powerproof 2, which succeeds the original Nokian Powerproof (and Powerproof 1) and has backed up that update with a strong run of 2026 results. It took outright victory in Motor's 235/55 R18 test, posting the shortest wet braking distance of the field (29.7 m) alongside the best longitudinal and lateral aquaplaning resistance and joint-best cabin quietness — its only real weak spot there being merely average rolling resistance. Die Reifentester's test told a similar story, with four "very good" wet-weather ratings, the best lateral aquaplaning margin in the group, and strong wet braking at 34.0 m, though testers noted comparatively weak dry braking (35.7 m), louder interior noise, and some after-vibration on rough surfaces. Autobild rated it a braking specialist on both wet and dry tarmac with dynamic dry handling and low rolling resistance, while flagging it as a touch weaker overall in the wet than its class-leading dry results would suggest. ACE's test reached a similar conclusion: best-in-test rolling resistance and strong wet handling (second only to a Linglong tyre), offset by an earlier-than-average loss of grip in longitudinal aquaplaning and less confident rear-axle support during quick lane changes.

The Nokian WetProof, as its name implies, is built around wet-weather security rather than outright performance, and it has picked up consistent "good" and "very recommended" verdicts across several tests since 2021. ADAC praised its balanced behaviour on both dry and wet roads and its efficiency, though pointed to weaker environmental performance, along with some shortfalls in mileage and tread wear. It's a solid, dependable choice rather than a class leader, but its track record across multiple test cycles makes it worth considering for drivers who prioritise wet grip and everyday balance over ultimate scores.

For light commercial vehicles, the Nokian Cargoproof C rounds out the lineup. In Promobil's 2026 van tyre test it impressed with very short braking distances in both wet (27.4 m) and dry conditions, the latter the best result in the test at 41.0 m, plus above-average cornering stability. The trade-offs were reduced steering reserves at large lock angles and comparatively loud pass-by noise (71.7 dB). For van operators who value braking performance above all else, it's earned its recommendation.
