The Petlas Imperium PT515 and Firestone Roadhawk are both summer tyres with comparable performances in various tests. This comparison will determine which of the two stands out based on the criteria of handling, durability, and safety.
The Petlas Imperium PT515, a product of Petlas, made in Turkey, received an overall rating of 48% in our tests. On the Autobild test, it ranked at number 35 out of 53. Its strengths as observed in the ADAC 2018 tests were its durability and tread wear resistance, confirmed by its high mileage and low abrasion. However, it was assessed to have significant weaknesses in handling both wet and dry roads. Hence, it ranked 13th out of 16 in the ADAC test. Notwithstanding, it hasn't been replaced with a new model yet.
On the other hand, the Firestone Roadhawk, a summer tyre produced by Firestone, got a higher rating of 59% in our evaluation. In comparison to the Petlas tyre, it held a higher rank (10 out of 53) in the Autobild tests. The most lauded features of this tyre include its dry handling, wet handling, and wet side guide. As per the ADAC 2018 test, it was deemed efficient and light, with good dry road performance. However, the wet road performance was a weakness, along with the tyre’s lifespan. Despite this drawback, the Firestone Roadhawk managed to rank higher at position 5 in the ADAC test.
In summary, the Firestone Roadhawk and Petlas Imperium PT515 are both highly rated tyres each with their own strengths and weaknesses. However, the Firestone Roadhawk superseded the Petlas tyre in their mutual test ranks, indicating superior overall performance. Moreover, no new model has replaced either of the two, affirming their reliability and performance quality in the market.
It's essential for consumers to consider their specific needs and driving environments when selecting a tyre, emphasizing the importance of a balance between performance, safety, and durability.
