Today we will be diving deep into a comparative analysis of two incredible tyres, the
Nexen N fera Sport and the
Kumho Ecsta PS71. Both are brilliant summer tyres with their own unique strengths, but how do they stack against each other in multiple tyre tests?

Nexen N fera Sport

First up, we have the Nexen N fera Sport, a summer tyre with no direct replacement model. Rated a 59% by our team, it is a standard ultra-high-performance tyre made in the Czech Republic and is the first equipment for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. Here's a summary of its performance in various tests:

In the Autobild test, it bagged the 7th position mainly excelling in wet braking and longitudinal aquaplaning. It ranked 5th in the ADAC test with mileage being its best feature. The tyre demonstrated good characteristics on both dry and wet pavement in Autobild 2025 with a higher projected mileage, but showed minor weaknesses in driving comfort on dry road and aquaplaning behavior. The ACE test featured exterior noise as its best attribute and came in 9th.

Kumho Ecsta PS71

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the Kumho Ecsta PS71, a highly-rated summer tyre with no known direct successor. Achieving a robust rating of 68%, the tyre doesn't have a specified place of manufacture, and neither is there any first equipment information available for the model.

In the Autobild test, this Kumho tyre showed dominance in more attributes than the Nexen tyre such as comfort, wet handle and longitudinal aquaplaning, thus bagging the 5th position. In the ADAC test, cross and longitudinal aquaplaning emerged as its best features, but it fell behind at the 10th place. Autobild 2025 showed contrasting results with short dry braking distance and good wet pavement characteristics, but projected mileage and dry comfort were on the lower side. The ACE test placed it at the 7th position.

Verdict

Comparing both tyres, it is evident that the Kumho Ecsta PS71 takes a bit of a lead in overall performance and has higher ratings across most tests. However, the Nexen N fera Sport showcases a promising performance in specific areas like mileage and wet braking. The choice, in the end, falls upon individual needs. Whether you require a tyre that covers higher mileage or delivers better handling on wet roads, both tyres provide reliable options.
