Today we will compare two top performer summer tyres, the Michelin Primacy 3 and the Nokian zLine. Both are products of well-respected manufacturers, with the Michelin tyre hailing from Michelin, and the Nokian tyre produced by Nokian.
The Michelin Primacy 3 used to be a leading model for Michelin. It has been replaced by a newer tyre model, the Michelin Primacy 4. However, we still recognise the strong performance and merits of Primacy 3.
In various tests, the Michelin Primacy 3's performance varies. For example, in the Autozeitung test, Primacy 3 came in first out of 10 tyres. However, it ranked 8th in the GTÜ test and 9th in the ACE test and fell down to 10th in Autobild test featuring 52 tyres which is quite a feat for a retired model. Nonetheless, overall its performance has been commendable, particularly with its impressive first position in the Autozeitung test.
On the other hand, the Nokian zLine was also put through the same tests. The results were comparatively better than the Michelin tyre. In the ACE test, zLine came 3rd out of 11 tyres thanks to its excellent dry handling. It secured 5th position in Autozeitung's test, 6th in the comprehensive GTÜ test, and a respectable 20th place in the Autobild test against 52 tyres, showing its consistently solid performance.
In conclusion, the Michelin Primacy 3 provides a good performance reputation, placing first in the Autozeitung test. However, it is noticeable that the Nokian zLine scores overall much higher in most tests. Therefore, while Michelin Primacy 3 prevails for specific tests, Nokian zLine seems to be the more balanced choice, providing consistently high performance in a range of different tests. But let's not forget that Michelin has now replaced the Primacy 3 with the Primacy 4, which could potentially provide even better results.
