The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and the Firestone Firehawk Sport are two high-performing summer tyres, each with its unique strengths and weaknesses. This comparison will provide a comprehensive overview of how both tyres fared during multiple tests, taking into account their overall performance, manufacturer details, and position in mutual tests.

Produced by Michelin, one of the world's leading tyre manufacturers, the Pilot Sport 5 boasts numerous superior features, as per its testing over the years. Designed as a UUHP (Ultra Ultra High Performance) tyre, this model earned an impressive rating of 96% by our experts. Its major benefits include its well-balanced characteristics on both dry and wet roads, very high predicted mileage, low abrasion, lightweight design, and low fuel consumption. However, it showed slight weaknesses in its cross aquaplaning behaviour during the ADAC test. Despite this, its overall position in the test still remained high at 3rd out of 18 tyres.

On the other hand, the Firestone Firehawk Sport, made by globally renowned manufacturer Firestone, stands out as a UHP (Ultra High Performance) tyre. It might not be on par with the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, but it still managed a decent rating of 76% in our assessments. The Firestone tyre demonstrated good handling on both dry and wet surfaces, as well as low fuel consumption and weight. However, its weaknesses showed up in the form of slight aquaplaning issues and not as high predicted mileage as the Michelin tyre. It also displayed higher surface wear and tear. In the ADAC test, this tyre was at the 7th position out of 18 tyres, indicating its comparatively lower performance.

In the AutoBild test, the Pilot Sport 5 excelled in mileage, wet braking, both cross and longitudinal aquaplaning, and wet circle cornering, claiming the 3rd position out of 13 tyres. On the contrary, the Firehawk Sport lagged behind in the 9th position, yet it got praised for its lower exterior noise and rolling resistance.

From the collective data across all tests, it's evident that the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 outperforms the Firestone Firehawk Sport in terms of overall tyre performance and test results. However, the Firehawk Sport does carry certain strengths like lower noise and resistance, which may be more appealing to certain drivers.
