In this comparison, we will take a look at two popular summer tyres – the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and the Nokian Powerproof. Both tyres are designed to provide excellent performance in dry and wet conditions, but let's take a closer look at the strengths and weaknesses of each based on the data from various tyre tests conducted by different organizations.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4, with an overall rating of 94%, has been praised for its impressive dry braking, dry handling, and wet handling. The tyre replaced the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and has since been upgraded with a newer model, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5. Manufactured in Spain and Germany, the Pilot Sport 4 also performs well in wet conditions, excelling in tests such as aquaplaning resistance and longitudinal performance.

On the other hand, the Nokian Powerproof has an overall rating of 85% and is known for its safety and neutrality, even in wet conditions. Manufactured in Finland, this tyre also has good reserves for handling wet surfaces and offers precise control and responsiveness in dry corners. Despite these strengths, the Nokian Powerproof does have some limitations, including aquaplaning safety and a noticeable noise issue.

In the tests conducted by AutoMotorSport, out of the 11 tyres tested, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ranked 2nd, while the Nokian Powerproof came in at 7th. The Michelin tyre scored well in dry steering response, aquaplaning resistance, and both dry and wet handling. In contrast, the Nokian tyre only stood out in dry steering response.

According to Autozeitung, in a comparison of 10 tyres, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ranked 4th, while the Nokian Powerproof came in 6th. The Michelin tyre received high praise for its dry braking performance.

In the Autobild tests, out of 11 tyres, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ranked 4th, while the Nokian Powerproof came in 7th. The Michelin tyre performed exceptionally in aquaplaning resistance and dry braking. The Nokian tyre, on the other hand, was recognized for its wet braking performance.

The ADAC tests featured 16 tyres, with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 taking 2nd place and the Nokian Powerproof coming in 11th. The Michelin tyre excelled in dry braking performance and mileage, while the Nokian tyre was praised for its noise reduction and interior noise performance.

In conclusion, based on the test results, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 comes out as the better performer overall, especially in terms of handling, braking performance, and aquaplaning resistance. However, the Nokian Powerproof is a worthy alternative if you prefer a safer, more comfortable ride, as it performs well in wet conditions and offers a quieter experience.
