Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
In this review, we make a comparison between two all-round tyres, the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 and the Falken EuroALL Season AS210. Neither of these options has been replaced by a newer model, which means that our comparative analysis is current and very relevant for consumers.
Let's start with the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3. Produced in China, this tyre has a decent rating of 53%. Its top strengths on various tests are in cornering on wet circles, noise levels, and dry braking. However, it does tend to struggle in winter performance and is noted to have a weak grip on icy conditions and snowy roads.
From the test data provided, this tyre performed best in Aquaplaning - cross, positioning 7th in the ACE test and 4th in Autobild. According to Autobild 2022, the Premitra AS AP3 excelled in short dry brake distances and a low price. However, it struggled in snowy conditions, exhibiting restricted grip and understeering. It was advised that it has extended braking distances in wet conditions.
Moving onto the Falken EuroALL Season AS210. Made in Turkey, this tyre has a great rating of 67%. The key strengths of this tyre are in wet handling, dry handling, comfort, and price-to-value ratio. While its performance in snowy and dry weather isn't the best, it still managed to claim the 8th position in the ACE test and the 11th position in the Autobild test.
In Autobild 2022 and Autobild 2020, the Falken tyre demonstrated good handling, precise side guiding, and short braking distances on wet surfaces. Its downsides were understeering on snowy and dry surfaces and average snow braking distance. However, it was commended for its balanced driving properties, stable driving behaviour under all weather conditions, good aquaplaning properties, and a high traversed distance at a favorable price.
In conclusion, based on the test results, it's clear that the Falken EuroALL Season AS210 from Falken outperforms the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 from Maxxis in most aspects, particularly in terms of overall rating, positioning in tests, and the number of best-features categories. Hence, Falken's tyre would be the optimal choice between the two for most drivers seeking an all-round tyre.
