Comparison: Kleber Dynaxer HP4 vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5

Today we are comparing two well-known summer tyre models, the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5, made by Kleber and Maxxis respectively.

The Kleber Dynaxer HP4 achieved an overall rating of 82% in our tests. Its performance was found to be strong in terms of comfort and exterior noise level, which was highlighted repeatedly as one of its best features in the Autobild and ACE tests. In the 2024 Autobild tests, Dynaxer HP4 remarked with good aquaplaning safety and short dry braking distances. However, its downside includes understeering handling and average mileage.

On the other hand, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 scored a slightly lower overall rating of 81%. Its strengths lie in the areas of aquaplaning - both cross and longitudinal according to Autobild, and dry braking and handling according to ACE. It took first place in the ACE tests, largely due to its high aquaplaning safety and short dry braking distances. Yet, similar to Dynaxer HP4, Premitra HP5 received remarks on its delayed steering response and average grip level on wet and dry surfaces.

When compared side-by-side, these tyres show similar strengths and weaknesses. Both tyres offer good comfort and aquaplaning safety but could improve in terms of handling and grip. In the Autobild tests, Maxxis Premitra HP5 outperformed the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, taking 9th place out of 53, compared to Kleber's 14th position. However, in the ACE tests, Dynaxer HP4 secured the 6th place out of 9, while Maxxis Premitra HP5 topped the list.

In conclusion, the choice between Kleber Dynaxer HP4 and Maxxis Premitra HP5 can be based on your specific requirements. If exterior noise and excellent comfort are your priority, Kleber Dynaxer HP4 could be your choice. Alternatively, if you are looking for top-notch aquaplaning safety and short dry braking distances, then the Maxxis Premitra HP5 should be your pick.

As of now, neither tyre model has been replaced by a newer variant. Hence, considering the obtained results from our comprehensive tests, both the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 and the Maxxis Premitra HP5 make for reliable options when choosing a summer tyre.
