In this article, we will compare two popular summer tyres – the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Pirelli P ZERO. Both of these tyres have been tested and reviewed by various organizations such as AutoMotorSport, Autobild, ADAC, and Gute-Fahrt. The GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is a summer tyre with a focus on performance and handling. Made in Slovenia and Germany, it has a 94% rating on our site. It replaced the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 and has since been replaced by the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. The Asymmetric 5 has performed well in various tests, often securing top positions. Notable strengths include aquaplaning resistance, dry braking, dry steering response, exterior noise, comfort, wet braking, and mileage.
On the other hand, the Pirelli P ZERO is an Italian-made summer tyre, boasting an 88% rating. It excels in various features such as dry handling, dry braking, wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling. Unlike the Asymmetric 5, the P ZERO has not been replaced by a newer model.
In the AutoMotorSport test featuring 11 tyres, the Asymmetric 5 secured the top position, while the P ZERO came in fourth. The Asymmetric 5 outperformed the P ZERO in almost all categories, including aquaplaning resistance, dry braking, dry steering response, exterior noise, and comfort. The P ZERO's only win was in the wet side guide category.
Similarly, in the Autobild test with 53 tyres, the Asymmetric 5 once again ranked first, while the P ZERO came in fourth. The Asymmetric 5 dominated in terms of price/value, wet handling, aquaplaning resistance, and mileage. The P ZERO performed well in dry handling, dry braking, wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling.
In the ADAC test, the Asymmetric 5 ranked third out of 16 tyres, while the P ZERO came in at twelfth. The Asymmetric 5 performed well in terms of mileage, while the P ZERO excelled in dry braking, dry driving behavior, safety, exterior noise, wet circle cornering, and wet handling.
Last but not least, in the Gute-Fahrt test of 10 tyres, the Asymmetric 5 secured the second position, while the P ZERO came in seventh. The P ZERO showed its strength in wet circle cornering.
In conclusion, the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 has an overall better performance in mutual tests, showcasing its excellent aquaplaning resistance, dry braking, dry steering response, exterior noise, comfort, wet braking, and mileage. Meanwhile, the Pirelli P ZERO performs well in dry handling, dry braking, wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling.
