Today, we compare the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2, two popular summer tyres by Goodyear and Dunlop, respectively.

The GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, rated at 90% by our team, is a successor of the popular Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3. It excels in cross Aquaplaning and wet braking, setting it apart from competitors. Moreover, it has been crowned the best tyre in Autozeitung and Autobild test series, and a close runner up in Gute-Fahrt. Remarkable features include its price-value ratio, wet handling, and mileage. However, bear in mind that it has been replaced by Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6.

On the other hand, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2, with a score of 79%, shows consistent performance in cross Aquaplaning and longitudinal Aquaplaning. Despite being classified as an UUHP (Ultra Ultra High Performance) tyre, it failed to take a higher position on most test series, ranking 8th in Autozeitung, 11th in Autobild and 3rd in Gute-Fahrt among varying numbers of competitors. Its rolling resistance earned it some favor, although it could not quite match up to the GoodYear or other competitors.

To conclude, the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 outperforms Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 in most aspects and tests, although the Dunlop offers consistent Aquaplaning performance. Make sure to consider these strengths and weaknesses when choosing between the two. For those leaning towards the GoodYear, consider its newer replacement model, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, for the latest features and improvements.
