Comparison: Fulda SportControl 2 vs. Hankook Ventus Prime 4

In this comparison, we bring two top-rated, summer tyres head-to-head - the Fulda SportControl 2 (Fulda SportControl 2 details can be found here) and the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 (details here), which is a direct successor of the popular Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125.

Pitching them side by side, it's clear that each tyre excels in different areas. The Fulda SportControl 2, although having no previous model or new replacement, manages a respectable our rating of 74%. Its strengths are its excellent aquaplaning reserves, short braking distances on both wet and dry tracks, and good value for money. However, the tyre has a few setbacks such as a somewhat delayed steering response and moderate service life, as observed in the ADAC 2024 and Autobild 2022 tests.

On the other hand, the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 scores a little higher at 81% in our book, emerging victorious in several categories in the Autobild test. It ranks an impressive second position out of 51 tyres. Moreover, being a touring subType, it showcases superior dry braking, dry handling, and wet braking capabilities. Regardless, it loses some points in terms of comfort.

In the mutual ADAC test, the Fulda SportControl 2 places 7th out of 16 tyres, just edging out the Hankook by one place. Despite falling slightly short, the latter proves its mettle by presenting safe driving characteristics on dry surfaces, low tyre weight, and lower fuel consumption. Some minor shortcomings include slightly compromised ride comfort on dry surfaces and slight weaknesses on wet roads.

Despite some weaknesses, both tyres represent strong contenders in their class. To summarize, the Fulda SportControl 2 shines in areas such as aquaplaning reserves and braking distances, although it slightly lags in steering response and service life. On the other hand, the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 offers stellar handling in both wet and dry conditions and short braking distances, despite an average comfort level.

Ultimately, choosing between the two largely depends on the individual driver's preference and driving conditions.
