Today we're looking at two high-performing summer tyres: The Fulda SportControl 2 and the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2.

Generally, the Fulda SportControl 2 performs pretty solidly. These tyres have a 74% overall rating from us. They're known for their low exterior noise, good comfort, and low rolling resistance. Their main advantage is aquaplaning resistance, which is particularly important for safe summer driving. Regarding its weaknesses, some drivers noticed a slightly less comfortable ride on dry conditions and minimal weaknesses in wet conditions. Other users mentioned its satisfactory but not exemplary tyre lifespan.

On the other hand, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 garnered a decent 72% rating. This model excels particularly in aquaplaning resistance, both crosswise and longitudinal, and in its comfort. It's also been praised for its outstanding safety reserves in aquaplaning and solid mileage. However, it's somewhat critiqued for delayed steering response on dry tracks.

In terms of mutual test positions, the Fulda SportControl 2 clinched the ninth spot out of 52 tyres, and the seventh out of 16 tyres, respectively, in Autobild and ADAC tests. As for the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2, it took seventh and fifth places out of 52 and 16 respectively in the same tests. This shows that Dunlop generally performs better in mutual tests.

Looking at the sum of all tests and features, we can conclude that while both tyres have their pros and cons, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 edges slightly ahead. Its impressive performance in aquaplaning situations and overall comfort place it in a prominent position. However, the Fulda SportControl 2 is a very close competitor, boasting strong characteristics in comfort and aquaplaning resistance. Your final choice of these two summer tyres should depend on your specific priorities and driving needs.

Neither tyre has been replaced so far, making them the current top models you can find in their manufacturers' lineup. Make sure to check our website for updates, as newer models may come out in the near future.
