The Fulda EcoControl HP2 is a summer tyre that succeeds the previous model, the Fulda EcoControl HP. With an overall site rating of 79%, this tyre potentially offers satisfactory performance to car drivers. On the contrary, the Firestone Roadhawk is also a summer tyre with an overall site rating of 72%, thereby suggesting similar performance levels. Our test results from Autobild, ADAC, and Autobild 2024 provide further insights.
In Autobild tests, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 secured the 20th position out of 53 models. It was particularly praised for its exterior noise and aquaplaning performance in cross conditions. In contrast, the Firestone Roadhawk scored significantly better, achieving the 10th position thanks to top-rated dry and wet handling, and wet side guide capabilities.
However, the Autobild 2024 report shows a mixed view. The EcoControl HP2 is lauded for its good environmental balance, mileage, abrasion, and efficiency, but it supposedly performs poorly on wet surfaces. Similarly, the Roadhawk shines on dry roads and is highly efficient and lightweight. However, it exhibits not-so-stellar performance on wet tracks and its durability is also brought into question.
Lastly, the ADAC tests return a mixed bag of results. Despite the EcoControl HP2 landing the 14th position, no specific strengths or weaknesses are detailed. On its part, the Firestone Roadhawk makes it to the 9th position out of 16, showing great dry braking and wet circle cornering features. But this report also flags it as being noisy, a trait that could prove bothersome for some drivers who prefer quieter rides.
In conclusion, in terms of overall test performance, the Firestone Roadhawk seems to have a slight edge over the Fulda EcoControl HP2, particularly due to its enhanced grip and handling in diverse conditions. However, it's important to bear in mind its possible shortcomings on wet roads and in the noise department. As for the EcoControl HP2, it comes with certain advantages like better mileage, environmental scores but with possible trade-offs in terms of wet surface management.
