Comparison: Firestone Roadhawk vs. Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 vs. Maxxis Victra Sport 5

Comparing two popular summer tyres, the Firestone Roadhawk and the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127, our extensive tests revealed some significant differences in performance, handling, and rating.

Starting with the Firestone Roadhawk, this tyre does not have a predecessor or successor model. It's an all-season tyre designed to provide solid performance in various conditions. The tyre achieved a rating of 59% in our tests. However, its test positions in comparison with other tyres are on the lower side. For example, in the Autobild test, where 53 tyres were contested, the Roadhawk secured the 13th position, which does not suggest it as a top-performer.

Turning to the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127, a UUHP (Ultra Ultra High Performace) tyre, it boasts of an impressive rating of 74% in our tests. This summer tyre shines for its stark performance, especially in regard to dry and wet braking - which were highlighted as the best features in the Autobild test. The Ventus S1 evo3 K127 doesn't just perform well in tests but also in terms of first equipment for numerous prestigious vehicle models - Audi Q8, Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne, and BMW X3.

In mutual tests, the Hankook tyre significantly outperformed the Firestone model. Evidence lies in the Autobild test where the Ventus S1 evo3 K127 secured the 3rd position among a total of 53 tyres. Commentary from the autobild 2023 summary for Hankook mentions convincing performance, agile handling, short wet and dry braking distances as major plus points. The only downside highlighted was the sub-par mileage.

A verdict drawn from our tests and reviews suggest that while the Firestone Roadhawk is a dependable, all-round tyre, it fails to outshine in harsh competitive tests. On the other hand, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 dominates with commendable performance, responsive handling and efficient braking, though it falls short on mileage.

In essence, for a driver requiring better performance and handling, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127 is the clear winner. But, for everyday use where mileage gets priority over slight performance benefits, the Firestone Roadhawk holds its ground adequately.
