If you're considering the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 and the Fulda SportControl 2, you're undoubtedly looking for high-performance, summer tyres. Both these tyres have done well in tests by Autobild and ADAC, but there are certain differences that separate them significantly.

Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2

The Dunlop tyre's strongest showings came in areas such as longitudinal aquaplaning and comfort where it excelled. It also performed well in cross aquaplaning tests conducted by ADAC, echoing the findings of Autobild. The Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 received an overall rating of 72% on our site, establishing it as a reliable choice.

Test results from Autobild 2022 revealed pros such as good aquaplaning properties, precise wet handling, short braking distances on wet and dry roads, and fair pricing. On the downside, it showed delayed steering response on dry roads. An important highlight is that this tyre has not been replaced and remains a popular choice in the Dunlop catalogue.

Fulda SportControl 2

Fulda's SportControl 2 is another strong contender. In Autobild's test, it demonstrated strengths in exterior noise levels, comfort, rolling resistance and crossed aquaplaning. Notably, in ADAC's examination, it achieved a 7th position among 16 tyres tested, which bolsters its reputation.

ADAC 2024's test summaries highlighted this tyre's balanced safe handling on wet roads as a positive. However, longer wet braking distances and a slight delay in steering were observed. Autobild 2022 noted the tyre's excellent aquaplaning reserves, short braking distances on both wet and dry roads, and good price to performance ratio as advantages. On the flip side, this Fulda tyre showed delayed steering response and mediocre tread life.

Given our rating of 74%, this tyre stands strong despite its minor shortcomings. Moreover, it has not been replaced by a newer model so far.

Verdict

In conclusion, both the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 and the Fulda SportControl 2 showcase strong performances with certain distinct advantages. The Dunlop tyre proves itself to be a strong contender in terms of comfort and aquaplaning performance, while Fulda's strongest suits include sound, comfort, and rolling resistance. Personal preferences among these highlighted strengths would play a major role in the final decision.
