Comparison: Bridgestone Potenza Sport vs. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 vs. Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 K127

When it comes to choosing a tyre for your car, two popular options are the Bridgestone Potenza Sport and the Michelin Pilot Sport 5. Both of them are Ultra High Performance (UUHP) summer tyres, but they offer different features.

The Bridgestone Potenza Sports scores 89 out of 100 on our rating scale. Made in Poland and Hungary, it has recorded particularly good results in wet and dry braking and handling according to tests done by Autobild and Autozeitung. However, it may suffer from higher tyre weight and fuel consumption as noted in the 2025 Autobild test. In mutual tests, it often ranked high.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5, scoring a 97 out of 100, is renowned for its mileage capacity and its performance while wet braking and cornering. However, it revealed slight weaknesses in cross aquaplaning according to Autobild 2025. It generally ranks slightly behind the Bridgestone across several mutual tests but shines in categories of fuel efficiency and weight.

It's worth noting that the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 has followed on from the previous models; the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 3. Compared to them, it has seen improvements in various aspects resulting in a higher overall rating.

According to the TyreReviews.com 2023 test, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. The Bridgestone Potenza Sport holds an impressive grip and sporty feel in wet conditions and excellent wet braking when new and worn, but it struggled in the deeper water of the aquaplaning tests and displays potential longevity issues. On the other hand, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 stood out for its durability and consistent performance across various conditions but would benefit from a bit more grip in wet conditions.

When choosing between these two tyres, take into account your own priorities and driving conditions. If you value wet and dry handling and braking and don't mind the potential for higher fuel consumption, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport could be the right choice for you. But if you value durability, low environmental impact and fuel efficiency over top-tier wet grip, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 could be your preference.
