In this review, we are comparing two of the most popular summer tyres, the Bridgestone Potenza S001 and the Pirelli P ZERO. Both models deliver reliable performance in varying road conditions but they each have unique strengths and weaknesses based on numerous test results.
The Bridgestone Potenza S001, a product of acclaimed tyre manufacturer Bridgestone, has an impressive track record in various tests. In Autobild’s 50-tyre test, it secured a third-place finish. In the ADAC tests, it managed to secure 9th position amongst 16 competitors, particularly impressing in tests on aquaplaning - cross. Notably, there is still no newer model that replaced this tyre
On the other hand we have the Pirelli P ZERO, crafted by renowned Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli. Despite a disappointing 25th place finish in the Autobild test, the Pirelli P ZERO excelled in the ADAC test where it demonstrated strong performances in dry braking, dry driving behaviour, safety, exterior noise, wet circle cornering, and wet handling. This tyre's spectacular performance in the Sport Auto's test cannot be ignored where it ranked first amongst the 7 tyres tested.
From a broad view, the Bridgestone Potenza S001 may seem superior in terms of average test position, but it's crucial to factor in the Pirelli P ZERO's range of strengths across a multitude of categories. This directs us towards a potentially more balanced perception with the Pirelli P ZERO excelling in a broader variety of capabilities.
Conclusion:
When it comes to choosing which of these two tyres is the best one, the decision lies in considering what aspects of performance are more important for your driving needs. If you frequently drive in wet conditions and are concerned about aquaplaning, the Bridgestone Potenza S001 might be a better choice. However, if you require a more well-rounded tyre offering diverse performances, the Pirelli P ZERO offers a compelling proposal. Do always remember to consider other factors such as tyre wear, economy, and your specific driving conditions, alongside these test results.
