In our extensive tyre comparison tests, we have analysed the performance of two high-quality all-round tyres: the Vredestein Quatrac and the Toyo Celsius AS2. Here are our detailed findings:

Beginning with Vredestein's Quatrac tyre, our ratings indicate an exceptional performance, giving it 88%. A product of Hungary, its strength lies in its exterior noise and wet handling aptitude. Test results from AUTOBILD suggest that the Quatrac ranked fifth out of 37 tested tyres. The Quatrac also fared well in other tests, receiving praise for its wet braking, wet circle cornering, and wet handling. However, it had average performance in wet and snow braking and a higher than average rolling resistance.

In contrast, the Toyo Celsius AS2, manufactured in Japan, earned a rating of 54%. The Celsius AS2 is favoured for its comfort, exterior noise, and price-to-value ratio. In the AUTOBILD test, it placed 12th out of 37 tyres. Plus points included good dry braking and reasonable aquaplaning resistance, however, it received critique for its low levels of grip in the wet and snow, low comfort, and high rolling resistance.

In head-to-head comparisons, the Vredestein Quatrac generally performed better, particularly during wet conditions. The Toyo Celsius AS2 wasn’t quite as reliable in winter conditions, as indicated by the findings from the autobild 2023 test.

In summary, the Vredestein Quatrac is excellent in exterior noise and wet handling while having room to improve in wet and snow braking. Meanwhile, the Toyo Celsius AS2 stands out in terms of price/value ratio and comfort but could do better in providing grip during wet and snowy conditions. Both have been identified to have higher than average rolling resistances, which might take a toll on fuel consumption.

Despite the strong competition, the Vredestein Quatrac seems to emerge as the better tyre in this comparison, with a higher overall grade and ranking in mutual tests. However, the choice between the two would still heavily depend on specific driver needs and environmental conditions.
