Today we'll be comparing two distinct summer tyres: the Tomket Sport and the Hankook Ventus Prime 4.
Starting with Tomket Sport, this tyre lacks in comprehensive performance. With an overall rating of just 11%, it falls significantly behind when compared to other tyres. A particular aspect to be wary of is its poor performance on both dry and, particularly, wet surfaces, a finding that led to a downgraded rating. However, a seeming advantage of this tyre, stated in autozeitung 2018 test, is that they are very light and efficient along with exhibiting little tyre wear.
In comparison, the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 is a much more commendable tyre. This touring tyre scored an impressive rating of 81%. It showcased good performance on both dry and wet surfaces, only showing slight weakness against aquaplaning. Despite minor weaknesses in terms of environmental balance and efficiency, it strongly outperforms the Tomket Sport, also confirmed by its previous model, Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125, which had already yielded satisfactory results.
In mutual tests, the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 also stood out. For instance, in the Autobild test against 55 tyres, Hankook came fourth whilst Tomket trailed far behind at 34th. This result was consistent with the tests conducted by Autoklub ČR and ADAC, where Hankook consistently ranked in the upper half whilst Tomket struggled to make an impact.
Furthermore, Hankook, the manufacturer of the Ventus Prime 4 tyre, has a reputable history of producing high-quality products, fulfilling First Equipment mandates, in contrast to Tomket Sport.
In conclusion, if reliable performance and quality are your top priorities, then your choice between these two tyres should be simple. While the Tomket Sport may provide a light and efficient ride with less tyre wear, its weaknesses in wet and dry performance, low mileage, and lack of sustainability awareness make it less favourable compared to the higher-rated Hankook Ventus Prime 4, which demonstrates versatile strength in various conditions with minor weaknesses.
