When it comes to comparing summer tyres, there are two notable contenders –
the Petlas Imperium PT515 and the Fulda EcoControl HP2. Each tyre has its own strengths and weaknesses that were highlighted in numerous tests.
Made in Turkey, the Petlas Imperium PT515 didn't have a previous model and hasn't been replaced by a newer model yet. Our overall rating for this tyre is at 48%. Stationed at the 35th position among 53 tyres in the AutoBild test the Petlas Imperium PT515 showed significant challenges in dealing with both wet and dry conditions. Its weaknesses were most glaring on wet and dry roads, and in sustainability factors. It was also identified as relatively heavy and unbalanced. However, it should be noted that the Petlas Imperium PT515 did stand out with its long lifespan and minimal wear.
On the other hand, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 is an improvement to a previous model, namely the Fulda EcoControl HP. Our site's overall rating for this tyre stands a bit higher at 71%. It secured the 20th position out of 53 in the AutoBild test and ranked 8th among 15 in the ADAC test. The tyre received some major accolades for its impressive exterior noise rating and resistance to cross aquaplaning. Despite that, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 highlights some difficulty when dealing with wet roads. Nonetheless, its ratings for environmental balance, mileage, wear and efficiency, were rather positive according to AutoBild 2024.
To summarize, while both the Petlas and Fulda tyres showcased unique strengths like long lifespan and minimal wear for Petlas and commendable noise level and efficiency for Fulda, they both also revealed notable deficiencies in handling wet conditions. However, given our overall ratings and the variety of tests conducted, we can conclude that the Fulda EcoControl HP2 comes out as a slightly more reliable choice. More info about each tyre can be found at their respective pages, the Petlas Imperium PT515 and the Fulda EcoControl HP2.
