Comparison: Petlas Imperium PT515 vs. BFGoodrich Advantage

In this comparison, we aim to provide information on the two summer tyres, the Petlas Imperium PT515, made by Petlas and the BFGoodrich Advantage, manufactured by BFGoodrich. With the test data we have gathered, we will explore the strengths and weaknesses of both tyres.

The Petlas Imperium PT515 is a summer tyre initially manufactured in Turkey. Our rating for this tyre is at 48%. From various tests, it has been established that this tyre offers high mileage and minimal wear, and thus prominent durability. However, specific performance aspects have been highlighted as weaknesses. These include its overall balance and significant deficiencies on both dry and wet roads, making it prone to understeering or losing grip. Also, its sustainability has been criticized due to its comparatively high weight and somewhat compromised fuel efficiency.

On the other hand, the BFGoodrich Advantage outshines the PT515 in our review rating at 68%. During the Autobild test, it ranked 18 out of 53 tyres tested, excelling in terms of comfort and dry handling. Its dynamic dry handling, low rolling resistance, and minimal noise environed this tyre a pleasant driving experience. Moreover, its affordability makes it an attractive option for many. However, it did show slight understeering tendencies on wet roads.

In comparisons provided by the ADAC test, out of the 15 tyres tested, the BFGoodrich Advantage ranked higher than the Petlas Imperium PT515. It occupied a better 9th position over the 14th. One of its notable strengths was its fuel efficiency, which significantly contributes to the ongoing costs of driving.

While both tyres show unique strengths, it’s clear that BFGoodrich Advantage performs better overall in the tests. The advantage offers a more balanced performance, superior fuel efficiency, and comfortable driving climate, making it the preferred choice for a summer tyre. However, if high mileage and endurance are your primary considerations, the Petlas Imperium PT515 can be a good contender, provided the specific weaknesses highlighted can be tolerated.

The Petlas Imperium PT515 and BFGoodrich Advantage have not been replaced by other models and are currently available.
