Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
Let's take a closer look at the comparison between two popular summer tyres: the Nokian WetProof and the Fulda EcoControl HP2.
The Nokian WetProof is a solid choice with a rating of 74%. Manufactured in Finland, it stands out with its noise level and wet circle cornering abilities. It is ranked 11th by ADAC out of 15 tyres tested and managed to secure the 6th position in a test by Autobild out of 53 tyres. The tyre is praised for its balance, good performance on both dry and wet roads, and efficiency. However, it does face some criticism for its environmental footprint, slightly low tread life, and minimal sustainability concerns. There isn't a successor model for the WetProof currently. For more details, check out the manufacture's page.
On the other side, we have the Fulda EcoControl HP2, which scored 71% in our rating. It does not disclose its country of manufacture but it's successor to the Fulda EcoControl HP. The EcoControl HP2's strengths lie in its cross aquaplaning resistance and noise level. In the ADAC test, it finished 8th out of 15 tyres, and was ranked 20th in the Autobild test out of the 53 tyres tested. The HP2 shines with its good environmental footprint, tread life, and efficiency, but it falls short in wet grip performance! You can find out more on the manufacturer's website.
Comparatively, the Nokian WetProof does outperform the Fulda EcoControl HP2 in mutual tests overall. While it is 3 ranks behind in the ADAC test, it significantly outperforms the HP2 in the Autobild test ranking 14 positions ahead. While both have their strengths and weaknesses, the WetProof delivers a more balanced performance on both dry and wet roads and is a more efficient choice while the HP2 ranks better in terms of environmental footprint. However, on wet roads it seems the WetProof does a better job at keeping the car in control.
If your priority is dry and wet road performance, and noise control, the Nokian WetProof is the recommended choice. However, if you're more concerned about tyre longevity and environmental impact, the Fulda EcoControl HP2 could be a better fit for you.
