Comparison: Nexen N Fera Primus vs. Uniroyal RainSport 5

Today we are comparing two well-known summer tyres: the Nexen N Fera Primus and the Uniroyal RainSport 5. Both are Ultra High Performance (UHP) tyres from respected manufacturers, Nexen and Uniroyal.

First, let's take a look at the Nexen N Fera Primus. This tyre outperformed Uniroyal RainSport 5 in most of the tests, with an overall rating of 71% from us. It particularly excels in Aquaplaning-longitudal, as observed in Autobild test. It offers good braking performance and dynamic handling in wet conditions, an essential feature for summer tyres. However, there were few downsides as well, such as delayed steering response and limited mileage/wear which may affect its economical viability.

Next, we have the Uniroyal RainSport 5. Though this tyre didn't perform as well as the Nexen N Fera Primus in most tests, it still has a decent performance. Our rating for this tyre is 64%. It's exceptionally good at Aquaplaning in both longitudinal and cross situations. This tyre performs well on wet surfaces, however, there are marked weaknesses when it comes to dry conditions. There are also concerns in the area of tyre life and fuel economy.

Both tyres were tested in the 'Autobild 2019' and 'Autobild 2024' reports. In the total rankings, Nexen N Fera Primus generally achieved higher positions than Uniroyal RainSport 5 (10 vs 31 in ADAC test, and 10 vs 36 in Autobild). However, it's also worth noting that these positions were out of 50 and 51 total tyres tested respectively, indicating a high level of competition. It's also important to consider specific features that are most important to you.

Verdict: Overall, the Nexen N Fera Primus appears to slightly outperform the Uniroyal RainSport 5 according to the data available. However, both have their strengths and weaknesses and could be suitable depending on individual driving conditions and expectations. The N Fera Primus may be preferred for its performance in aquaplaning situations, but the RainSport 5 could be an option if wet surface handling is crucial.

Note: So far, none of these tyres has been replaced by a newer model from their respective manufacturers.
