Today, we're comparing two all-round tyres - Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 from Korean manufacturer Nexen and Continental AllSeasonContact 2 from the European tyre heavyweights Continental. Both tyres are produced in CZ, known for its advanced tyre manufacturing technology.
The Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 is an improved tyre version, replacing the previous model Nexen N Blue 4 Season. It performed moderately in the AUTOBILD test, securing the 16th and 12th position out of 37 and 16 tyres respectively. Its best features were its high mileage and excellent price/value ratio. Some of the strengths inscribed into assessments are balanced dry handling, excellent mileage, low price, and short dry braking distances. However, it showed moderate reserves in aquatic planning and underperforming behaviour in snowy and wet conditions.
On the other hand, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 is a standalone model with no previous versions. In comparison, it outmatched Nexen in the AUTOBILD tests, ranking 3rd and 2nd. Exhibiting superior traits in exterior noise, snow cornering, snow traction, and wet braking. Its other outstanding advantages are dynamic handling, short braking distance on a wet track, low noise level, and high mileage. However, it does tend to understeer and its price is relatively high.
In terms of their overall rating on our site, the Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 stands at 62% in contrast to the outstanding 85% rating of the Continental AllSeasonContact 2.
In summary, the Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 provides a great value for money pick, living up to long distances with good dry performance. Conversely, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 is a premium choice of all-season tyres, offering fantastic wet and snow performance with some of the best noise reduction available on the market.
By weighing up your specific driving conditions and budget, either could be a great choice for your next tyre purchase.
