Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
If you're considering two summer tyres, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport, each offer various advantages and disadvantages. This post will provide an in-depth comparison to help you make the best decision.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 replaced the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and is rated highly with 88% by our standard. Made in ES and DE, the tyre has outperformed its competition in multiple areas during several tests. It claimed the top spot in both the Automotorsport and SportAuto tests and ranked second in AutoMotorSport and Autobild while being tested among 11, 7, 16 and 53 tyres respectively. The Pilot Sport 4 exhibits excellent capabilities in wet and dry braking, handling, and preventing Aquaplaning. However, the tyre has since been replaced by the Michelin Pilot Sport 5.
The Toyo Proxes T1 Sport, made in Japan, didn't fare as well as the Michelin Sport 4. Out of its numerous tests, its best position was 6th (SportAuto), and it ranked 19th in Autobild tests among 53 tyres, and 10th and 8th in AutoMotorSport and Automotorsport tests out of 11 tyres respectively. The tyre has an overall rating of 37%. Strengths were in the categories of exterior noise and dry steering response. Currently, there is no newer tyre model indicated that replaces this Toyo Proxes T1 Sport.
Overall, while both tyres have their strengths, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 outperforms the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport across all tests. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4's impeccable wet and dry handling and braking, combined with its ability to prevent Aquaplaning, makes it a top-tier summer tyre with Michelin's quality guarantee. The Proxes T1’s performance isn't poor, but it doesn't quite reach the level of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Therefore, if you are looking for high performance and overall supremacy, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is the ideal tyre to consider. However, if noise reduction is more crucial to you, you might want to consider the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport.
Note that tyre performance can greatly depend on driving conditions and styles. Ensure to select the tyre which best fits your specific need and performance expectations.
