Today, we are comparing the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and the Uniroyal RainSport 5, both summer tyres designed for optimal performance. The tyres demonstrate similar features, making the choice between the two challenging for most car owners.

The Maxxis Premitra HP5 is a tyre made by Maxxis, renowned for manufacturing high-performance tyres. It excels in Aquaplaning, both longitudinally and cross. Plus, it has an impressive rating of 69%. The tyre ranked 9th out of 53 in the Autobild test and has superb Kilometerleistung and short Trockenbremswege. However, the delayed Lenkansprechen and moderate Gripniveau on wet and dry pistes might be concerning. Furthermore, its Trockenhandling is understeering, and it has a noticeably reduced lifespan and increased rolling resistance. Regardless, its standout features like safety reserves in case of Aquaplaning, short Aquaplaning braking distances, and low price positioning, increase its appeal for users who prioritize safety and affordability.

On the other hand, the Uniroyal RainSport 5 tyre manufactured by Uniroyal has a slightly lower rating at 64%. It is a UHP, Ultra High-Performance tyre, particularly noted for its Aquaplaning cross performance. This feature was highlighted in both tires, but our tests showed Uniroyal RainSport 5 has a slight edge. Despite its lower ranking of 19th out of 53 on the Autobild test, its safe Nasshandling capabilities and Aquaplaning qualities are worth noting. The main drawbacks lie in its somewhat spongy driving behavior and limited Seitenführung on dry pistes, according to Autobild 2024 findings. However, it scored significantly well on exterior noise and Aquaplaning in the ADAC test.

Overall, both tyres showcase strengths and weaknesses, but neither has been replaced by a new model. Therefore, your choice between Maxxis Premitra HP5 and Uniroyal RainSport 5 should depend on your specific driving conditions and tyre performance preferences.
