Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
In this comparison, we are looking at two summer tyres: the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and the Sava Intensa UHP 2. Both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses which we will outline based on our test results and reviews. Let's dive in.
The Maxxis Premitra HP5, a product of Maxxis, stood strong in tests with an overall rating of 78%. It boasts high safety reserves during Aquaplaning, short wet braking distances, and is available at a low price level. However, its dry handling is slightly lacking and it has a somewhat restricted lifespan and higher rolling resistance.
In the Promobil test, it ranked 7 out of 8. In the Autobild test, with 52 tyres, it was placed 18th and distinguished itself in Aquaplaning. The Autobild 2022 test described it as having very good safety reserves for Aquaplaning, short wet braking distances, and a low price level but criticized its understeering in dry handling, limited lifespan, and increased rolling resistance. It, however, shone in the ACE test where it came 1st amongst 9 tyres tested, performing exceptionally well in Aquaplaning, Dry Braking, and Wet handling.
The Sava Intensa UHP 2, which is a successor to Sava Intens UHP, is made by Sava. In our test, it received an overall rating of 73%, with highlights including excellent Aquaplaning performance, stability on a dry surface, and short braking distances in both wet and dry conditions. Comfort and a competitive price point are also major pluses. However, like the Premitra HP5, its lifespan is somewhat restricted.
In the Promobil test, it was slightly behind the Premitra HP5, coming 8th out of 8. However, in the Autobild test, it did better and was placed 11th out of 52 for its Aquaplaning and Price/Value. The Autobild 2022 test found it to have robust safety reserves during Aquaplaning, steady behaviour on dry ground, short braking distances in both wet and dry conditions, and a pleasingly low price. However, it also criticised its limited lifespan. The ACE test placed it 2nd out of 9, acknowledging its strengths in Dry handling, Exterior noise, and Wet handling.
Overall, both these tyres have their unique strengths. The Maxxis Premitra HP5 performs better in Aquaplaning and Wet handling, while the Sava Intensa UHP 2 shines in Dry handling and offers greater comfort and value for money. The choice between these two would largely depend on your specific needs and driving conditions.
