If you're debating between the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and the Dunlop Sport BluResponse, there's a lot to consider. Both are summer tyres, but our ratings suggest that the Dunlop tyre edges out the Maxxis by a small margin, with respective scores of 71% and 69%.

In a test by AutoBild, of 51 tyres, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse secured the 8th position, while the Maxxis Premitra HP5 finished just a spot behind at 9th. The strong suits of the Dunlop here were its rolling resistance and comfort, whereas the Maxxis performed particularly well in cross aquaplaning.

The Dunlop Sport BluResponse further solidified its edge in an Autozeitung testing of 20 tyres, where it landed the 8th position, compared to the Maxxis Premitra HP5's 4th position. This test emphasized the strong aquaplaning, dry handling, safety, and dry steering response of the Maxxis. Meanwhile, the Dunlop tyre showcased its superior wet braking capabilities in an ADAC test amongst 16 tires, scoring 6th position compared to the 15th position of the Maxxis.

Maxxis Premitra HP5 showed impressive dry braking performance according to an AutoBild 2019 summary. However, it fell short with its delayed steering response and mediocre grip level on both wet and dry tracks. The Maxxis impressed with its good mileage and its safety feature on dry conditions.

On the other hand, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse impressed with its good aquaplaning qualities, short dry braking distances, and fuel-saving rolling resistance. However, it had average grip on wet tracks, as per AutoBild 2024 review.

In conclusion, while both tyres had their strengths, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse appears to be the more balanced option, specifically excelling in terms of comfort, rolling resistance, and safety. The Maxxis Premitra HP5 would be preferable if you prioritise good mileage, dry handling, and safety on dry conditions.
