Comparison: Maxxis Premitra HP5 vs. Bridgestone Turanza 6 vs. Firestone Roadhawk

Today, let's consider two top contenders in the summer tyre market: the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and the Bridgestone Turanza 6. These tyres, manufactured by Maxxis and Bridgestone respectively, have undergone rigorous testing with findings that can help you make an informed decision for your vehicle.

In head to head testing, both tyres showed quite a competent performance. The Maxxis Premitra HP5 scored a modest 56% in our rating, suggesting satisfactory overall performance. The tyre's standout strength was in Aquaplaning - cross, as per the AutoZeitung test. However, its performance in terms of grip level on both wet and dry tracks was rated as mediocre. Furthermore, the HP5 was criticised for its delayed steering response.

The Bridgestone Turanza 6, on the other hand, performed slightly better, earning a respectable 77% in our rating. Although it didn't shine in the AutoZeitung test (securing the 9th position out of 9), it was applauded for its low rolling resistance - an important attribute for enhancing fuel efficiency. According to the Autozeitung 2024 test summary, the Turanza 6 has a new summer profile that provides balanced driving characteristics, safe handling on both dry and wet roads, and short braking distances. Plus, it boasts an excellent mileage performance. The Turanza 6 is actually an updated version of the previous Bridgestone Turanza T005, solidifying its lineage in a line of successful tyres.

With their positions in the AutoBild test, the Maxxis Premitra HP5 and Bridgestone Turanza 6 ranked 8th and 10th out of 55 tyres respectively, reinforcing their overall solid performance credentials.

Ultimately, while the Maxxis Premitra HP5 shows acceptable all-round performance, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 secures a slight lead with its balanced driving attributes, low rolling resistance, and excellent mileage performance. However, your final decision should account for your specific driving conditions and expectations for your tyres.
