Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
In this comparison, we're looking at two different all-round tyres, the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 and the Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750. Both of these tyres offer a number of benefits, but there are key differences that may impact your choice.
The Maxxis Premitra AS AP3, produced in China, is rated at 53% by our testers. Its top features according to the Autobild test included wet circle cornering and exterior noise, indicating a quiet, comfortable ride. However, it scored a relatively low position (4th) among 31 tyres in the same test. The tyre's weaknesses included a delayed steering response and limited tyre life, making it less economical over time. Despite this, it must be noted that the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 provides very good aquaplaning qualities at a reasonable price.
On the other hand, the Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750, manufactured in Korea, impresses with an overall rating of 89%. This tyre ranked 8th in the Autobild test, with its best features being exterior noise and snow handling - an impressive winter tyre indeed. But like the Maxxis, it comes with the downside of average lifespan and economy. Nonetheless, other strengths of the Hankook Kinergy 4s2 H750 are its short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces, and a good comfort level.
Interestingly, the Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750 is a newer version of Hankook Kinergy 4S, unlike the Maxxis Premitra tire which hasn't been replaced with a newer model yet.
All in all, while both tyres have their strengths and drawbacks, test results show that the Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750 outperforms the Maxxis Premitra AS AP3 by a significant margin. Depending on the specific driving conditions and priorities, both can still be valid choices for different drivers.
