Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
Today we will be comparing two popular summer tyre models: the Kumho Ecsta PS71 and the Sava Intensa UHP 2. Made by well-known manufacturers Kumho and Sava respectively, both models have their strengths and weaknesses which will be outlined in this comparison.
Let's start with the Kumho Ecsta PS71. According to Autobild 2021 test, this tyre offers a balanced high-performance potential, good handling, and short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces. However, it might be a bit louder than other tyres. In turn, ADAC mentioned that the tyre performs exceptionally well on wet conditions and doesn't have any significant weaknesses. Nevertheless, it ranked 18th in a test with 53 tyres by Autobild, and 10th in a test of 16 tyres by ADAC. It's clear to see that whilst this tyre offers excellent performance, it's not at the top of the rankings overall.
On the other hand, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 is a worthy competitor. This tyre, which succeeded the Sava Intensa UHP model, features short braking distances on dry roads and comes at a favorable price according to the Autobild 2021 test. The tyre was also found to have a low rolling resistance and relatively quiet noise levels by ADAC. However, it has some room for improvement - notably in its wet and dry handling, and it may aquaplane easier. In addition, ADAC noted its slightly increased wear and weaknesses when driving on a wet surface. Nevertheless, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 ranked higher than the Kumho Ecsta PS71 in both Autobild's and ADAC's tests, landing in the 17th place out of 53 tyres and 6th place out of 16 tyres, respectively.
Overall, both the Kumho Ecsta PS71 and the Sava Intensa UHP 2 are solid choices with proven performance. However, if you often drive under wet conditions and favor acquired rating, the Kumho Ecsta PS71 might be a better fit for you with its strong performance on wet round. But if you're after a quieter ride and a more economical option, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 could be the suitable choice. As always, your choice of tyre greatly depends on your driving style and needs, so we recommend reviewing the specifics of each model and considering additional factors such as manufacturer support and price.
