The GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and Bridgestone Potenza S001 have both proven to be competitive summer tyre models, excelling in various areas. While the GoodYear model has since been replaced by the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, which we suggest you check out, both tyres still offer great performance.
This tyre from GoodYear showed an impressive performance in our tests, scoring an 80% rating. Produced in SI and DE, it notably excels in the areas of wet handling and price-value ratio. This is underpinned by its performance in Autobild’s tests where it garnered the 6th position out of 50 models. In ADAC's mileage tests, the tyre further demonstrated its impressive longevity, achieving a commendable 3rd place.
However, its strengths seem to revolve particularly around its wet handling abilities and the strong price to value ratio it offers. This makes it a strong candidate for those seeking a well-performing summer tyre at good value.
The Bridgestone Potenza S001 from Bridgestone, on the other hand, did not receive our percentage rating due to insufficient data but it’s has shown solid capabilities in the tests it accomplished.
Despite the lack of specific data, it notably bagged the 3rd position in Autobild's test which is quite impressive. Furthermore, it also secured a 9th position out of 16 tyres in ADAC's test, distinguishing itself in the area of aquaplaning or more specifically cross aquaplaning.
While both these models represent solid choices for a summer tyre, the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 outshines the Bridgestone Potenza S001 in our rating and in the mileage test.
However, those seeking a tyre with stand-out aquaplaning performance may find the Bridgestone Potenza S001 to better suit their needs. Therefore, conclusions drawn are based on individual needs and requirements. We suggest comparing various factors such as the tyre’s performance in different conditions, as well as your driving style and usual driving conditions, when making your decision.
