If you're deciding between the Firestone Roadhawk and the Viking Protech NewGen, there are numerous factors you should consider. The two tyres have participated in several tests, but how do they stack up against each other?

The primary strength of the Firestone Roadhawk lies in its impressive dry handling. In the Autobild test, it scores well for dry road performance, wet road handling, and wet side guidance. High efficiency and low wear were also highlighted across the board and they scored well in these areas in the 2023 Autobild test. However, the tyre seems to have some weaknesses on wet roads, as indicated in the 2023 and 2021 Autobild tests. The tire's longevity was another concern.

On the other hand, the Viking Protech NewGen earned the highest mark for fuel efficiency in the 2021 ADAC test. According to the 2023 Autobild review, the tyre's environmental footprint is commendable, and it offers adequate mileage. However, it did not perform well on dry and wet roads. In the ADAC 2021 test, it showed weakness in dry and wet road performance, which led to a downgrade in the rating.

In terms of ranking, the Firestone Roadhawk has proven to perform slightly better overall. It secured the 10th position in a test involving 53 tyres according to Autobild, while its performance in the ADAC puts it at the 17th spot. The Viking Protech NewGen trailed behind it, coming 16th and 36th in the ADAC and Autobild tests respectively.

In conclusion, the Firestone Roadhawk is a viable option in terms of dry road handling and fuel economy, but may not be the best choice for wet road conditions. The Viking Protech NewGen's biggest strength is its fuel efficiency. However, its overall performance on both dry and wet roads is less commendable. Therefore, the choice between these two tyres would highly depend on your specific driving conditions and needs.

Neither the Firestone Roadhawk nor the Viking Protech NewGen have been replaced by newer models, meaning their manufacturers likely still have confidence in their performance. However, it's always important to determine whether a tyre suits your individual driving habits and conditions before making a final purchasing decision.
