In the world of high performance tyres, enthusiasts often find themselves torn between top choices such as the Continental SportContact 6 and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S. Both offer exemplary performance but come with their unique strengths and weaknesses.

First, let's take a closer look at the Continental SportContact 6. It's the successor to the popular SportContact 5 and SportContact 3 models, designed for summertime driving. It received an overall rating of 77% on our site. Importantly, what catches the eye is the interior noise where the tyre excels. The rest of the strongest points include rolling resistance and both dry braking & handling. However, it's worth noting that Continental has released a newer model, the SportContact 7.

On the other hand, we have the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S. Made in the US, this summer tyre had our rating at 86%. Its main strengths include superior braking ability, both in dry and wet conditions, excellent handling on wet surfaces, as well as a reduced exterior noise level. The tyre has subsequently been replaced by the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5.

The comparison becomes more interesting when we take a closer look at the Autobild tests. Among six tyres, the Continental SportContact 6 snagged first place, while the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S followed closely at the second spot. The tests highlighted strength areas of both the tyres – the former for its quiet ride and dry handling, the latter for its excellent braking and handling abilities, in both dry and wet conditions.

Overall, in terms of positions in comparative tests, both tyres showed excellent performance. However, if strict noise control and rolling resistance are on your priority list, the Continental SportContact 6 might be the better choice. In case effective braking and handling are more important to you, you should check out the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S.

Remember, tyres play a crucial role in the vehicle's overall performance and safety. Therefore, it is essential to make the right choice based on your driving style and requirements.
