Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
The Continental PremiumContact 7, produced by Continental, is the newest addition to a prestigious lineage of tyres which includes the PremiumContact 5 and 6. Getting a high rating of 99% on our site, it is a versatile, high-quality tyre featuring superior performance in terms of aquaplaning resistance, wet circle cornering, and both wet and dry braking. Produced in France, Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic, this tyre stood out in AutoBild's test scoring first out of 55 tyres. With repeated acclaim for its performance in both wet and dry conditions according to Autobild test summaries, it does however show average performance in rolling resistance and noise creation.
On the other hand, The Toyo Proxes Comfort from the Japanese company Toyo is also worth considering but faltered in comparison on AutoBild's test where it came 6th. Our site rates it at 66%, showing good resistance to aquaplaning and providing satisfactory dry handling. Additional strengths include notably low noise and very low rolling resistance. However, it trails the Continental in terms of wet braking and handling, and also shows a lower tread life, which might be worth considering if high mileage is expected.
In conclusion, while both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses, the Continental PremiumContact 7 appears to be the better choice in terms of overall performance, achieving high-test results consistently. However, for drivers prioritising comfort, the Toyo Proxes Comfort's significant reduction in noise and rolling resistance might be appealing. Always remember to choose a tyre based not only on test results but also on your personal needs and driving habits.
While both tyres have yet to be replaced by newer models, we recommend keeping an eye on our site for updates.
