In this comparison, we will be analyzing two popular tires: the Continental PremiumContact 6 and the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2. Both tires are designed for summer use and are classified as touring tires by their respective manufacturers, Continental and Pirelli.
The Continental PremiumContact 6 is a successor to the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 and has already been replaced by the Continental PremiumContact 7. Our rating for this tire is 90%, and it is manufactured in Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
On the other hand, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 is an updated version of the Pirelli P7 Cinturato, with an overall rating of 89% by our testers. Currently, there is no newer version of this tire model available.
In the ADAC test with a total of 17 tires, the Continental PremiumContact 6 ranked 2nd while the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 placed 9th. The Continental tire performed exceptionally well in wet circle cornering and wet handling during this test.
The Autobild 2018 test examined the strengths and weaknesses of both tires. For the Continental PremiumContact 6, some of its best features were its high driving safety (excellent rating) and impressive performance on both dry and wet roads (excellent ratings). However, the tire experienced weaknesses in efficiency. In comparison, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 fared well on dry roads, with decent tire life and efficiency. But it demonstrated weaknesses on wet roads, problems with environmental balance, and slight wear issues.
Lastly, in Autobild's test with a total of 53 tires, the Continental PremiumContact 6 ranked 4th while the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 came in 2nd. Both tires outperformed in wet braking during this test.
Continental PremiumContact 6 strengths include high driving safety, a remarkable wet and dry road performance, and good tire life. The main weakness, however, is its inefficiency.
Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 strengths are its performance on dry roads, decent tire life and efficiency. Weaknesses include the performance on wet roads, environmental balance issues, and slight wear problems.
Overall, the Continental PremiumContact 6 seems to outperform the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2, especially in mutual tests. Nevertheless, both tires have their own set of strengths and weaknesses, so depending on your priorities, one might be more suitable for your needs than the other.
