Comparison: Continental PremiumContact 6 vs. Nokian WetProof vs. Bridgestone Turanza T005 vs. Maxxis Premitra HP5

The Continental PremiumContact 6 and Nokian WetProof are two summer tyres, mostly used for touring, that we've put through several rigorous tests. Here's our rundown of their performance.

The Continental PremiumContact 6, manufactured in Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic, ranks high with an 87% rating according to our system and stands out for its exceptional wet braking and wet handling. It held an impressive 1st position in the ADAC test out of 15 tyres, and consistently showed optimal performance in other tests including dry braking and handling. Of note, according to Autobild 2024, the tyre is "well-balanced with high driving safety" and performs excellently on both dry and wet roads. However, there seem to be minor inefficiencies, but overall this tyre has earned its place for its high reliability and performance standards. This model replaces the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5.

The Nokian WetProof, hailing from Finland, also scored well with an overall rating of 83% on our system. According to the ADAC test, this tyre features the best noise performance and scored high for wet circle cornering, holding the 11th position. In other tests, it showcased excellent wet handling and took the 2nd and 1st positions in GTÜ and ACE tests respectively. The tire is praised for being evenly balanced and efficient on both dry and wet roads according to Autobild 2024. On the downside, it shows minor weaknesses in terms of durability, wearing and environmental balance. The WetProof model has not been replaced by a newer model so far.

Summarily, the Continental PremiumContact 6 is marginally better in overall performance ranking but the Nokian WetProof offers excellent performance too, especially in wet conditions. With both tyres offering high-quality performance, your choice would likely depend on the specific requirements you prioritize. However, given all the test positions and feedback data, the Continental PremiumContact 6 seems to be the better choice in general.
