Comparison: Continental PremiumContact 6 vs. Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125 vs. Pirelli P7 Cinturato Blue

In this review, we’re looking at two highly-rated tyres: the Continental PremiumContact 6, and the Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125. According to our ratings, these summer tyres from Continental and Hankook scored 87% and 72% respectively.

The Continental PremiumContact 6 is an established favourite replacing the popular Continental ContiPremiumContact 5. Although the production took place in several countries (SK, DE, and CZ), the quality proved to be consistently high. This tyre was particularly impressive in wet conditions, scoring highly for wet braking and wet handling in ADAC, AutoZeitung, and ACE tests. It also performed well in dry conditions, demonstrating excellent dry braking and handling capabilities. However, a newer iteration, the Continental PremiumContact 7 has since been released.

On to the Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125. Manufactured in HU and kicked off as the first equipment on Citroën C3 Aircross, it’s a solid performer in both wet and dry conditions. Particularly, it drew praise for its excellent cornering on wet surfaces under the ADAC tests. It demonstrated a broad range of strengths, with highlights including solid performance in dry braking and handling, and impressive traction on gravel and sand as per Autobild. This tyre has now been updated to the new Hankook Ventus Prime 4.

Comparing the two, the Continental PremiumContact 6 certainly stands out, clinching the top place in both the ADAC and AutoBild tyre tests, against a total of 15 and 52 other tyres respectively. Moreover, it took 2nd position in the Autozeitung contest out of 6 tyres and the 3rd in ACE one among 9 competitors.

The Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125, despite not matching its competitor’s high position in the tests, still put forth a commendable performance. It came 7th in the ADAC test out of 15 and made an excellent second place in AutoBild's challenging test among 52 tyres. More modestly among the 10 tyres in the Teknikens trial, it ranked 6th and bagged the 5th position in Autozeitung and the 7th in the ACE exercise against 9 rivals.

Naturally, it’s inevitable for one tyre to be declared the winner, and the Continental PremiumContact 6 secures that crown, considering the comparative strength in our ratings and its superior standing in the tests. That said, the Hankook Ventus Prime3 K125 is a worthy competitor, providing an array of features that would please many motorists.
