Comparison: Continental AllSeasonContact vs. Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO vs. Michelin CrossClimate 2

Today, we are comparing the Continental AllSeasonContact and the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO.

The Continental AllSeasonContact, manufactured in Slovakia, Czech Republic, and France, shines in tests for its good handling in both wet and dry conditions, complimented by its excellent snow-braking capabilities. Comfort and dry handling are also among its best features, according to Autoklub. However, it has been noted to fall short in cases of high internal noise, weak snow traction, and extended dry braking. While Continental didn't release a newer version of this tyre yet, it got a solid rating of 72% in our own measure.

On the other hand, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO, made in Hungary, and Italy, stands out for its excellent grip, as well as its dry braking and aquaplaning resistance - helped by the lowest rolling resistance on test. Wet braking and dry handling were also noted as some of its best features. However, its performance on snow has been critiqued. It has the longest braking, lowest traction, and most difficult snow handling lap - paired with highest internal noise. Nevertheless, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO notched up a rating of 71% from us.

While tyre comparison tests may vary due to differences in test conditions, according to Autobild, both tyres had their strong suits, securing positions as the 7th and 3rd spots in a test of 11 tyres. Meanwhile, in a test conducted by Autoklub, they both ended in the 2nd spot in a field of 10 tyres, with AllseasonContact showing superior performance in wet circle cornering, comfort, and aquaplaning, while A005 EVO showcased better wet braking capabilities.

In conclusion, the Continental AllSeasonContact scores better in wet and snow-braking scenarios, providing higher comfort. But it should improve on internal noise and dry braking. Whereas the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO is impressive in terms of wet and dry grip, rolling resistance, and dry braking, but could improve in its snow performance and noise levels.
