The two tyres under comparison in this review are Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO and Cooper Discoverer All Season; both are all-around tyres designed to perform in varying conditions.
The Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO tyre is manufactured in Hungary and Italy and is rated 71% by our evaluation. It displayed impressive performance in multiple tests. In the ARBÖ test, it secured the 6th position out of 9, and in the Autobild test, it clinched the 5th position out of the 10 tyres tested. High traction and short braking distances on snow, precise handling and dynamic driving qualities in wet conditions, and good safety reserves in longitudinal aquaplaning were the highlights of this tyre. However, its dry braking distance was found to be longer than desired.
On the other hand, the Cooper Discoverer All Season tyre doesn't specify a manufacturing country and scored a comparatively lower rating of 37%. In the ARBÖ test, it scored the 8th position, and in the Autobild test, it secured the 9th position. This tyre offers short snow braking distances and good aquaplaning characteristics at a reasonable price. Nonetheless, it marked some of its shortcomings that include understeering driving behaviour on snowy and wet track, delayed steering response, moderate comfort, and increased rolling resistance.
In conclusion, both tyres are effective allrounder. However, the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO seems to be a better option as it delivers excellent driving characteristics under wet conditions and good safety reserves. On the contrary, the Cooper Discoverer All Season appears to struggle with some of its features, but could be a viable option for those looking for a more budget-friendly choice.
