Detailed head-to-head comparison based on actual test results
As part of our ongoing tyre comparison series, we will be looking at Apollo Aspire XP and Continental PremiumContact 6. The two tyre models have been put through rigorous testing to assess their performances and quality.
Starting off with Apollo Aspire XP, this summer tyre got an overall rating of 53%. Despite its position in the comparison tests, it showed notable features such as rolling resistance. In the Autobild test, from a total of 53 tyres, it stood at the 14th position. The tyre fared better in the Autozeitung test, securing the 8th position out of 10 tyres and excelled in exterior noise and wet circle cornering. On the other hand, in the Gute-Fahrt test, the Apollo Aspire XP came 8th but with its best feature being dry braking. Although Aspire XP does not hold any previous models and hasn't been replaced by a newer tyre either, more details can be found here.
Moving on to the Continental PremiumContact 6, made in SK, DE, and CZ, this is a touring summer tyre from Continental. With a whopping rating of 87%, its strengths are remarkably broad. The Autobild test placed them 8th and featured its dry handling, mileage, and price/value. In Autozeitung and Gute-Fahrt tests, the tyre came first due to its far-reaching best features, such as dry steering response, wet braking, wet safety, dry braking, dry driving behavior, safety, comfort, and more. The PremiumContact 6 replaced the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, and now, it's been replaced with the Continental PremiumContact 7. Read here for more details on Continental PremiumContact 6, and also checkout the newer model here.
In summary, the comparison results clearly tip in favor of the Continental PremiumContact 6. While the Apollo Aspire XP puts up a good fight with its features, its performance metrics don't quite match up to Continental's breadth of excellence. Ensure to consider all aspects such as suitability, usage, and budget before making a purchasing decision.
