Let's compare two prominent tyres: the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 and the Continental PremiumContact 7. Both are summer tyres, designed for high performance and driving pleasure during warm weather conditions.

The Toyo Proxes Sport 2, a UHP tyre, received an overall rating of 63% in our tests. In focusing on the strengths, our tests revealed balanced performance, exhibiting impressive driving behaviour under both wet and dry conditions and short braking distances on dry surface. However, there were some drawbacks, namely the restricted distance span and the high cost, which lowered the overall score.

On the other hand, Continental's PremiumContact 7, a touring tyre, boasted a remarkable overall rating of 97%. The tyre is made in various countries including France, Slovakia, Germany and Czechia. A plus point for this model is that it features a new summer pattern with sporty, dynamic handling qualities, precise steering, good mileage and economy. The slight downside is its higher price point.

In mutual tests by such trusted publications as Autozeitung and Autobild, the Continental PremiumContact 7 consistently outperformed the Toyo Proxes Sport 2. In the Autozeitung test, with a total of 10 tyres, the PremiumContact 7 ranked second while the Proxes Sport 2 placed seventh. In the more extensive Autobild test, involving 50 tyres, the Continental model placed fifth and the Toyo one, tenth.

If we look at the overall score from all tests, the Continental PremiumContact 7, despite its hefty price tag, leads due to its sporty handling, steering precision and high economy rating. However, for those prioritizing dry surface performance and cost factor, the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 offers a balanced alternative.

Please note that the Continental PremiumContact 7 is a successor to previous models such as Continental PremiumContact 6 and Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, and there isn't a newer tyre that has replaced the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 yet.
