Our tyre reviews take a close look at two all-rounders, the Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 and the Kleber Quadraxer 3. Both these tyres have their strengths and weaknesses, making them suited to certain kinds of driving conditions.
The Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2, produced in the Czech Republic, is the successor of the Nexen N Blue 4 Season. It achieved a 62% rating in our test. Its strong points include an impressive mileage, good value for money, well-balanced dry handling, and short dry braking distances. However, it was found to have mediocre aquaplaning reserves and showed understeering behaviour in snowy and wet conditions as per autobild 2023 test results.
On the other hand, equal consideration must be given to the Kleber Quadraxer 3. Made in Poland, this all-round tyre is the successor of the Kleber Quadraxer 2, earning a commendable 87% in our tests. Core strengths of this tyre include comfortable driving, low exterior noise, excellent snow cornering and traction, per the AUTOBILD test. It also boasts short braking distances on dry and snowy surfaces and safe aquaplaning characteristics, as noted in the autobild 2023 test. However, its weaknesses include delayed steering response and understeering wet handling. Also, it was found to possess moderate grip and extended braking distances on wet surfaces per the autobild 2024 test results.
When pitted against each other, in both the AUTOBILD and autobild 2023 tests, the Kleber Quadraxer 3 outperformed the Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2, ranking 7th as opposed to Nexen's 16th and 12th positions respectively. This is likely due to its superior comfort, noise minimization, and snow performance.
In conclusion, both tyres present good features, with the Nexen N Blue 4 Season 2 providing great mileage and the Kleber Quadraxer 3 offering excellent snow performance and comfort. Nonetheless, the overall winner according to our tests is the Kleber Quadraxer 3 due to its top ranking in a majority of categories.
